Paper Airplanes: COA Induction Ceremony

For just one night, a gathering of the present and the future was made. For one night only, a gathering of the outgoing and incoming presidents/officers of the different student bodies joined together to say their farewells and welcome another batch of leaders for the upcoming school year. As the incoming president of MISA, I was invited to the COA Closing and Induction Ceremonies held last Friday (March 4).

It was a night full of laughter and tears as the incoming/outgoing presidents of the Sanggu and COA spoke to everyone about their experiences and the lessons they learned through the years. listening through all their speeches, I can say that they really had passion for what they were doing.

One of the things that I realized from the speeches was that in order to be successful in what you are doing, you need to have to love what you are doing. I could see in their speeches how much they want the things that they are doing. I could see that they loved what they were doing. Yes, they may not be given the recognition and exposure that they are expected to have, but this didn't stop them. They really are passionate for the job that is given to them and in order for the people around you to respect you, you got to show them that you really want this and you're willing to go the extra mile.

This is what I saw in outgoing Sanggu President Rob Roque. In his farewell speech, he shared how he spent his birthday spending time with the Sumilao farmers. He shared all his experiences while he was Sanggu president and how much he has changed because of it. I, personally, don't know him but after that I was touched and inspired to be the same person that he is. He showed how passionate he was for Sanggu and this is why a lot of people respected him. He may not be given much credit for the things that he did, but the standing ovation from the crowd said it all.

They ended the ceremony with the oath taking of the incoming Sanggu President (Drew Copuyoc) and COA President (Ken Abante) along with the other incoming Presidents and Sanggu officers.

Jency's "diet" meal for the night
After which, we went to the dinner reception upstairs in order for us to mingle and talk to the officers. I was with Jency, Cheth and Tata. We were cliquish like that. HAHA! Well, just because we had to go home early to prepare for the Open House the next day, we ate at the table nearest the exit. Tonight was an inspiring experience and it really made me want to go on and start doing presidential duties.

So now, this is Ryan Sordan, President of Management Information Systems Association, at your service.
