Bruno Mars: Doo-Wops & Hooligans

Bruno Mars' "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" album
Without a doubt Bruno Mars has made a mark in American music and is slowly being a household name in the States and even in the Philippines. Starting out as a collaborator in popular songs such as B.o.B's "Nothin' On You" and Travie McCoy's "Billionaire", his career immediately sky rocketed as one of America's most promising singers. On October 2010, he finally released his first album "Doo-Wops & Hooligans" that reached as high as #3 in US Billboard Top 200 Albums.

Album Release Date: October 4, 2010
Genre: Pop, Rock, R&B, Reggae

I would have to say that this album is a must-have if you want to have a relax and chill mood. His music is so relaxing and romantic that really makes you want to fall in love. His first single, "Just The Way You Are" became such a big hit in the Philippines because of the lovely tune and lyrics of the song. It is so catchy that a lot of people instantly fell in love with it. Adding the sweetness of the music video made it even more popular.

"Grenade", his second single, topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart. This song has been praised by critics as something "emotional" and "a perfect heart-break song." "Marry You" is also another track that has been on repeat in my iTunes. After it was featured in Glee, this track has gained popularity even before it is released. Right now, Glee's version of the track has been the most praised track in that episode.

Songs that are under the media spotlight the you have to look out for in his album are "Count on Me" and "The Lazy Song". The former is a song that talks about having someone to be there for you everytime you need that 'someone' to lean on. The latter is about ... just being plain lazy to do stuff. I kinda enjoy these types of music because it makes me feel like I'm on vacation in Hawaii with a pinacolada in my hand. Okay, that may be an exaggeration but believe me, the entire album is very relaxing and soothing.

Rye
